Crowdfunding Campaign Terms & Conditions

1. Campaign Overview The Mane Hook-Up campaign aims to provide professional hair styling sessions and hair care packages to vulnerable children with afro or curly textured hair. This initiative is part of a broader crowdfunding campaign, where 20% of the funds raised will go towards assisting these children. The campaign encourages public participation through the nomination of eligible children.

2. Campaign Period

Applications Open: 21 October 2024, 00:01 (GMT)
Applications Close: 04 December 2024, 23:59 (GMT)

Nominations submitted outside of this period will not be considered. The Mane Hook-Up Committee will review all nominations in December 2024, with winners being notified by the end of that month. Sessions and prize package distribution are tentatively scheduled for January 2025, but these dates are subject to change at the discretion of the organisers.

3. Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for nomination, the child must meet the following criteria:

Age: The nominated child must be between 14 and 18 years old at the time of nomination.
Hair Type: The child must have afro or curly textured hair.
Residency: The child must be a resident of the United Kingdom to receive hair styling or hair product gifts.
Vulnerability Status: The child must be in vulnerable living conditions, as determined by the answers provided in the nomination form. These conditions may include but are not limited to housing instability, reliance on government support, caregiver unemployment, or disability status of the child or caregivers.

4. Nomination and Participation Rules Nominations can be made by any member of the public, provided the nominee meets the eligibility criteria.

Each nominator may submit a maximum of one nomination per child. If the child is under the age of 16, the nominator is required to provide valid contact information for the child’s parent or legal guardian. Mane Hook-Up will contact the parent/guardian to obtain the necessary consent before the child can be considered for a prize.

It is the nominator’s responsibility to ensure that all information provided in the nomination form is accurate and truthful. Mane Hook-Up reserves the right to verify the information submitted. If any false or misleading information is discovered, the nomination will be disqualified, and any prize already awarded will be revoked.

5. Prizes Prizes will be awarded to children selected by the Mane Hook-Up Committee based on the eligibility criteria and nomination details:

Hair Styling Sessions: A total of 12 children will be selected to receive a professional hair styling session with one of our partnered stylists. These sessions will take place in London, and the selected children must be available to travel to London on the specified date. Travel costs are the responsibility of the participant unless otherwise stated.
Hair Care Packages: An additional 50 children will receive a hair care package consisting of a range of hair products tailored for afro and curly hair types.
Online Q&A with a Celebrity Hair Stylist: An additional 200 children will be invited to an online Q&A session with a celebrity hairstylist to get their hair care questions answered.
Digital Hair Education Library: All eligible children will get access to a series of online videos the offer practical textured hair care advice from one of our in-house professionals.

Prizes are awarded based on availability and the discretion of the Committee. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other alternatives.

6. Verification and Consent If a child under the age of 16 is nominated, their parent or legal guardian must provide written consent before the child’s participation in the campaign can be confirmed. Mane Hook-Up will provide consent forms, which must be completed and returned by the specified deadline. Parents or legal guardians of selected children may also be asked to consent to the child being filmed or photographed during their hair styling session or educational workshops. These materials may be used for promotional purposes by Mane Hook-Up and its partners, but no child will be filmed or photographed without the express written consent of their parent or legal guardian.

7. Selection Process Nominations will be reviewed by the Mane Hook-Up Committee, a panel of independent judges responsible for assessing nominations based on the eligibility criteria and the needs of the nominated child.

Selected children and their families will be contacted directly by Mane Hook-Up. We may ask for additional information to verify the details provided in the nomination form.
The Committee’s decision is final, and no further correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process.

8. Travel and Attendance For the 12 children selected to receive hair styling sessions, attendance at the specified London location is mandatory. The session will include a full hair styling experience and a hair care education session with one of our professional partners.

The selected child and one of their parents or legal guardians are responsible for arranging all travel arrangements and expenses unless otherwise noted by Mane Hook-Up. Failure to attend the scheduled session without reasonable cause may result in forfeiture of the prize.

9. Dispute Resolution If you have any concerns or disputes regarding the nomination process, selection, or prize allocation, please direct your inquiries to hello@manehookup.com. We will endeavour to resolve disputes promptly and fairly. All disputes must be submitted within 14 days of the final selection announcement.

10. Exclusion of Liability Mane Hook-Up and its affiliates are not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage incurred during participation in the campaign or travel to and from campaign events. By accepting a prize, the participant and their legal guardian agree to waive any claims against Mane Hook-Up relating to the campaign.

Mane Hook-Up is not responsible for any technical issues or failures that may result in a nomination being lost, delayed, or incorrectly submitted.

Employees, contractors, consultants, and advisors to Mane Hook-Up, as well as their immediate family members, are ineligible to participate in or nominate others for this campaign.

11. Data Protection and Privacy Personal information provided during the nomination process will be used solely for the purposes of administering this campaign. Mane Hook-Up will handle all data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws. Data collected will be stored securely and will not be shared with third parties without the consent of the individuals involved, except where necessary for the execution of the campaign.

12. Modification and Termination of Campaign Mane Hook-Up reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the campaign at any time without prior notice in the event of circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, or changes in applicable laws.

Any modifications to these Terms and Conditions will be posted on the Mane Hook-Up website. Continued participation in the campaign following such updates will be considered acceptance of the modified terms.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or related to this campaign shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
